Visit some of southern Transylvania's castles and fortresses and learn about the area's history and traditions.
Day 1
Bucharest – Peles Castle – Bran Castle – Rasnov Fortress – Brasov
Meet your guide at your Bucharest hotel and
head north to Brasov, southern Transylvania's largest city.
Stops/ visits:        
~  Sinaia / Peles Castle - former summer-residence of Romania’s royal family, one of the most beautiful castles in the world. 
(built late 1800s, German Neo-Renaissance/ Troubadour style)
~ Bran / 14th-Century Bran castle
(Bran – aka Dracula’s Castle - is Romania’s most visited museum).
~ Rasnov / Rasnov Fortress, located on a rocky hilltop, 650 ft. above the town of Rasnov
the forthress was built by Teutonic Knights as protection against invading Tartars.
Time permitting: walking tour of Brasov Old Town.
(Brasov is one of Transylvania’s ‚Siebenburgen’ / Seven Saxon Walled Towns).

Day 1 in brief:

Sights/ Activities:       historical buildings, medieval castle, Bran Castle, Peles Castle, 
                                       Rasnov Fortress city of Brasov, Carpathian Mts. vistas.

Day 2
Brasov – Fagaras Citadel – Rupea – Crit – Sighisoara 
After breakfast,
travel from Brasov to Sighisoara.
Stops/ visits:
~ Fagaras / Fagaras Citadel, built in 1310. In the 17th century Fagaras was considered one of the strongest fortifications in Transylvania.
~ Rupea / Rupea Fortress, 
~ village Crit, fine example of Transylvania rural planning and architecture.
~ Sighisoara / Sighisoara Citadel.
Overnight in Sighisoara.
Day 2 in brief:
Distance traveled:       190 km (120 miles)
Approx. travel time:    3 hours and 10 minutes (normal traffic, without stops)
Sights/ Activities:       Medieval architecture, Rupea Citadel, Fagaras Citadel, 
                                      medieval Citadel, historical buildings, UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch
Day 3
Sighisoara – Richis – Biertan – Alba Iulia – Hunedoara - Sibiu
After breakfast,
travel from Sighisoara to Sibiu.
Stops/ visits: 
~ Richis, small Transylvania village - home to a 600 y.o. gothic fortified church.
~ Biertan / Biertan Fortified Church (Unesco World Heritage Site).
~ Alba Iulia / largest and best preserved Vauban fortress in Central and Eastern Europe.
~ Hunedoara / Corvin Castle, one of the most spectacular Gothic-style castles in Europe. 
If the time allows walking tour in Old Town Sibiu.
Overnight in Sibiu.
Day 3 in brief:
Distance traveled:       350 km (220 miles)
Approx. travel time:    4 hours and 55 minutes (normal traffic, without stops)
Sights/ Activities:        rural Transylvania, medieval architecture, Vauban fortifications, 
                                        Saxon Fortified Church, Corvin Castle – gothic style.
Meals included: breakfast
Day 4
Sibiu – Curtea de Arges – Bucharest
After breakfast,
travel from Sibiu to Bucharest, via Curtea de Arges.
Stops / visits: 
~  Sibiu was the largest and wealthiest of the seven walled citadels built in the 12th century by German settlers known as Transylvanian Saxons.
~ Curtea de Arges to visit one of Romania’s most impressive Byzantine-style structures (Christian church w Islamic motifs).
Day 4 in brief:
Distance traveled:       300 km (190 miles)
Approx. travel time:    4 hours and 45 minutes (normal traffic, without stops)
Sights/ Activities         historical buildings, Byzantine architecture, medieval architecture,  
                                       Sibiu town-life, Carpathian Mts. vistas.
Meals included: breakfast

This tour will depart on set (not flexible) “guaranteed departure” dates
