Day-trip to Veliko Tarnovo, aka the 'City of the Tsars', one of Bulgaria's most beautiful towns.
This tour will take you over Romania's southern border, to Bulgaria and, back to Romania.
Is essential that you carry your passport (or ID card for citizens of EU states).
If you need a visa to enter Bulgaria and to re-enter Romania,
please make sure that you have a valid visa for Bulgaria
and a valid, multiple-entries, for Romania.

Travel from Bucharest to Veliko Tarnovo,
via Giurgiu -- Friendship Bridge over the Danube River -- Ruse.
Stops/ visits:
~ Ivanovo Churches (UNESCO World Heritage),
known for the impressive XIII-XIVth century frescos,
~ Veliko Tarnovo, one of the oldest settlements in Bulgaria;
its origins can be traced back to the 3rd millennium BC.
During the Midle Ages it became the strongest fortification of the country
and the subsequent political, economical, religious and cultural centre
and the capital of the formerly great Second Bulgarian Empire (1185 and 1396)
until the Ottomans took over.
Highlights: impressive fortress, ruins of the former Tsarevets Palace
and the patriarchal church, nowdays with modern and intriguing paintings.
Most of Veliko Tarnovo attractions are located on and around three hills:
Tsarevets, Trapezitsa, and Sveta Gora that surround the Yantra river.
~ Arbanassi, a quiet and picturesque village featuring well-preserved medieval architecture,
beautiful Nativity Church and Monastery.
