Day 1
Arrive Bucharest
Meet your guide at Bucharest airport/ transfer to your well-located hotel.

Day 2
Bucharest
Discover Romania’s capital city Jewish Heritage and its most spectacular landmarks
Visits:
~ Choral Temple,
~ the Great Synagogue,
~ Jewish History Museum,
~ the Jewish Theatre
Dinner and overnight in Bucharest
Sights/ Activities: Bucharest Jewish interest sites, landmarks, city-life.

Day 3
BUCHAREST – Ploiesti – Sinaia - Bran – BRAȘOV
After breakfast, travel from Bucharest to Brasov, southern Transylvania
Stops/ visits:
~ Ploiesti - Beth Synagogue, built in 1901 (restored in 2007)
~ Sinaia – Peles castle
~ Bran / Bran (Dracula's) castle
Optional stop: Azuga / lunch and wine tasting at Halewood Wine Cellars.
Sparkling wine has been produced in Azuga since 1892.
Sightseeing in Brasov.

Day 4
BRAȘOV – Sighisoara – Sovata – Red Lake – PIATRA NEAMT
In the morning,
visit the Brașov Synagogue, built in 1899, and the Jewish Community Centre.
Travel from Brasov to Piatra Neamt, via Sighisoara -- Red Lake -- Bicaz Gorges / Lake Bicaz.
Stops/ visits:
~ Sighisoara / medieval citadel (UNESCO), one of the most authentic/ best preserved in Europe.
Dinner and overnight in Piatra Neamț.
Day 4 in brief:

Day 5
PIATRA NEAMT – Roman – Targu Frumos – Podul Iloaei – IAȘI
After breakfast, visits to
~ the Great Temple, aka Leipziger Bet Ha-Midrash Temple, built in 1839
and
~ Piatra Neamt Cathedral synagogue, the oldest wooden synagogue still standing in Romania.
The present wooden structure was built in 1766;
some historians believe that the wooden synagogue replaced an older place of Jewish worship
made from stone in the 15th century.
One of the highlights of the Wooden Synagogue is 250 years-old “Golden Altar”
and its several original ritual objects still in fine condition.
Travel from Piatra Neamt to Iasi
Stops/ visits:
~ Tailors’ Synagogue in Roman
The Jewish Community in Roman is at least four centuries old;
in 1887 Roman was home to 16 synagogues and houses of prayer.
The Jewish Cemetery in Tirgu-Frumos.

IAȘI – Cotnari - Harlau – BOTOȘANI
Sightseein in Iasi,
Romania’s third-largest city and home to the country’s most numerous sophisticated Jewish community.
In the 19th century, Iasi was one of the leading European Centers of Jewish.
Visits:
~ Iasi Jewish Community / meet its president.
~ Iasi Great Synagogue - the oldest Jewish Temple in Romania, built in 1671.
~ Iasi Jewish Cemetery
Travel from Iasi to Botosani
Dinner and overnight in Botosani.

Day 7
BOTOȘANI – Dorohoi – Radauti – SUCEAVA
After breakfast,
Visit the Great Synagogue “Hoihe Sil” in Botosani, built in 1834.
The interior features naïve scenes of Jerusalem, biblical animals and symbols representing the tribes of Israel and  a lavishly carved and brightly painted Aron Kodesh.
intricate chandeliers adorn the ceiling.
Travel from Botosani to Suceava, via Ciocanesti and Radauti.

SUCEAVA – Vatra Dornei – BISTRIȚA

visit the Gah Synagogue founded by the Gemilut Hasidim mutual aid society in 1870.
Continue to Bistrita.
Sightseeing in Bistrita, visit the Great Temple, built in 1856
Dinner and overnight in Bistrita.

Day 9
BISTRIȚA – Viseul de Sus – SIGHETU MARMATIEI
After breakfast,
travel from Bistrita to Sighetu Marmatiei,
Stops/ visits:
~ Elephant House / Jewish community Museum - Viseu de Sus
The museum honors the small Jewish community in the area and Alexander Elephant,
the last owner of the steam-operated timber factory in Viseu de Sus,
exiled from the area in 1940 when – as a result of Vienna Diktat -
Maramures and northern Transylvania were awarded to Hungary.
Continue to Sighetu Marmatiei,
sightseeing in Sighetu Marmatiei.
Visits:
~ the Moorish-style Sephardic Synagogue, “Vizhnitzer Klaus”
~ Elie Wiesel – 1986 Nobel Peace Prize - Memorial House.

(Maramures Mts. National Park).

Continue to Oradea

Visit Oradea’s largest synagogues: 
the Neolog Synagogue ‘Zion’ (1878) and the Orthodox Synagogue (1890).

Day 11
ORADEA – Simleul Silvaniei – CLUJ

visit the Synagogue / Northen Transylvania Holocaust Memorial.
Sightseeing in Cluj Napoca
Visit to the Neolog Synagogue (1887).
Dinner and overnight in Cluj.

Dinner and overnight in Sibiu.

Day 14
SIBIU – Olt River Valley – Ramnicu Valcea – BUCHAREST
After breakfast travel to Bucharest via the scenic Olt River Valley.
Optional stop/ visit:
Curtea de Arges – the 16th Century beautiful Byzantine Monastery,
resting place of Romania’s royal family.
Continue to Bucharest.
Time at leisure in Bucharest.
Overnight in Bucharest.
